Santa Visits Kitchener-Waterloo Families at The Museum

Most of the moms, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers were beyond excited when they could hear Santa's Ho Ho Ho echo through the halls of The Children's Museum at the momstown KW Holiday Party on Saturday December 15th, 2012. Though, we have to admit there were also some terrified shrieks and wails too!
(Check out our blog on Santa's secret thoughts...)

This party was definitely set to Santa's standards though! We had cookies and candy canes;
hot chocolate and holiday punch; ornaments and a Christmas sac race too!

The best part of the whole day though, was definitely the smiles on the children's faces as they sat on Santa's lap. The wonder in the babies eyes as they felt Santa's suit for the first time. And the sound of the parents laughter as their children refused to go anywhere near the "big guy". Check out all the pics right here!

Once the cookies were eaten and the hot chocolate was drank, Santa had to go back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas. Everyone had an amazing time and were all ready for their afternoon nap!

'Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the room
All the children were laughing when there came a big boom!
The stockings were hung and the tree was alight
When all of a sudden some children ran from sight!

A cheerful old man, with a beard white as snow
Came walking on in with his jolly Ho Ho Ho!
The tree was decorated, the stockings were hung,
and now Santa's song had definitely been sung!

To Santa's delight, there were cookies and punch
'Cause sure enough it was time for lunch!
But the time did come for Santa to leave
Off to the North Pole, before Christmas Eve!

momstown KW wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

momstown KW had a Boo-tiful Barn Boo Bash with Fisher-Price & Steckle Farm

On Saturday October 27th, momstown Kitchener-Waterloo families got all bundled up in their warmest, driest costumes to have some Halloween fun our Fisher-Price sponsored Big Barn Boo Bash at Steckle Heritage Farm in Kitchener. When they arrived, they were greeting with decorated pumpkins, black cats (a real one!) tombstones, and even mummified pumpkins, along with big buckets ready for their candy contributions for Trick or Treating after all the fun.  The little ghouls and goblins weren't sure which way to run to, they were so many fun stations to visit.

Thanks to Fisher-Price, we had a "Joy Of Learning" play area set up in the barn.  The kids got busy right quick playing with all the toys, testing out their durability and testing their sharing qualities, while giving mom and dad lots of ideas for their Christmas Lists.  It always amazes me to watch how fast a child can take a toy and immediately jump into some fun imaginative play.   And the best part, we raffled everyone one of those Fisher-Price toys off and some lucky families happily took them home!

Check out little Sydney having a dance off with Master Moves Mickey!

Moms encouraged the little ones to decorate their very own Monster Trick or Treat Bag so they could collect candy at the end of the event.   The ghouls and goblins used bingo dabbers, stickers, crayons, glue and even some yarn for hair.

We had planned for a great Obstacle Course and Pumpkin Bowling competition outdoors but the rain forced us to change our plans a little..... we switched it up to have our Obstacle Course in the straw play area and then a Pumpkin Bowling competition in a section of the barn that looked like it was made for bowling!
Moms and dads came dressed in costume as well, sporting their most creative ideas, including a Family Chicken Joke!  It took me a while to get this, in fact, it wasn't until I was taking their photo that I realized it was a family illustration about Why the Chicken Crossed the Road..  Very clever, well played guys.  We handed out ribbons for Best Mom Costume, Best Dad Costume, and of course, best baby and best child costumes.  It was really really difficult trying to narrow these down so we went with a "loudest clapping" voting method to get everyone involved.

At momstown.ca, we provide many sensory activities integrated into our programming and our Boo Bash was no different.  We had black witches cauldrons filled with all things gooey, prickly, mushy and gross!  These kids weren't shy though, they were eager to get their little hands in there and let their curiosity wonder what was inside.

A big thank you also to Jess Warren from Moments By Jess Photography for setting up and taking fantastic individual photos of all our kids in their boo-tiful costumes!  We will have them all posted on our Facebook page for everyone when they are available.  While Jess was busy, we snapped a few candid shots of the little ones lazing around in their animal outfits.
This was definitely a Boo-tiful Big Barn Boo Bash for momstown KW families and we have to admit, we sure had lots of fun planning too.  And events like this, would never be possible without a lot of volunteers, they are true superstars.  Sincerest thank you to all of you. xo
