Night Light shines at momstown Movers in Kitchener Waterloo

Night Light was the book this month the Tales for Tots portion of momstown Movers.

A book of die-cut surprises with a counting element as well.  Each page has you guessing at which vehicle has the lights with a nice rhyming flow.

 

June was also a month of shapes so, our momstown Movers tots made a light of their own!

Colour in the circles with red, yellow and green, then glue on some colour coordinated paper scraps to create you very own Shapes Night Light!

momstown KW Blasts Off with Art and Play Program

Once a month, momstown KW meets for Art and Play there are games and activities structured for busy toddlers and pre-schoolers, while still keeping the babies busy too! It's the perfect playgroup for moms with children at any age and stage!


This month we met at the Ontario Early Years Center to embrace our theme of Space.

We first sang a few songs about stars, the moon and outer space too.


Then it was time for crafts. We made rocket ships:

We used paper tubes and covered them with construction paper. Then made 3 triangles, 1 for the top and 2 for the wings. Finally we added our own special designs before blasting off into space.

We also had a great time playing with each other in the center while our glue dried. 

It was a great day of song, crafts and play!

Fun in the Sun

On Friday June 25, we packed our picnic lunches, broke out our finest bathing attire and hit the 'beach'.   After a week of rainy weather we were more than ready for some sunshine!

Spread out around the pool at the Nith River Campground, we enjoyed our lunch and had some play time.  And when the air finally warmed up a bit, we slathered on our sunscreen and jumped in the pool.

The water took a bit of getting used to, but once we adjusted we had a great time splashing and lounging around in the water.  The pool floatie was a hit with all the little ones and the older ones had a blast with the beach ball and at the gigantic playground next to the pool.

Once we got dried off, we let the kids play a bit more while the momstown bathing beauties caught some rays before packing up to take the little ones home for a much needed nap.

A special thanks to the Nith River Campground for letting us use their pool and playground for the day - we had so much fun!

Black and White

I am sure that there has been a debate that has occurred countless times about perspective and colour. Black and white vs the vague "grey" area. When it comes to parenting, should everything be black and white, or is there always room for the shades of grey? Well, last week we decided to go strictly black and white and dress up as penguins!

Moms and kids dug in their closets to put together a black and white outfit that would get them in the spirit of our P is for Penguin Party. We started off the party with a reading of "If You Were a Penguin " and then sat down to make our very own penguins. Using toilet paper rolls as a body, the kids got creative in their colour choices and decorating.

When all our little penquins started to get relestless and tired, we sat down and watched a bit of "The Penguins of Madagascar" to cool off. Then they were all off to head home and have a nap. Just another day in the life of a penguin...

Yahooo, summer is officially here and it has come in like a dream!

Oh, how I have missed you warm weather and can't wait to get out there and enjoy!

We have some fun summer events planned to take advantage of this great weather and are looking forward to getting out there with our members and having some fun with the kids!

Although I do think that there needs to be a patio night in there some where too, don't you ladies?

This is it ladies, we're here...well almost! Only two more days until we go live online at http://www.kitchener-waterloo.momstown.ca/ and I can hardly wait!! The excitement has been building for what seems like forever (but really it's only been weeks) and now the day is almost here. The highlight of last week really has to have been our appearance on The Daytime show on K-W's Rogers station (cable 20). One of our main mama's for Momstown came down from Burlington to go LIVE on tv with me and it was fun! Stay tuned for our subsequent appearance this Friday (March 27th) on the evening news :) The other thing that topped off our day was that we have hired my 'partner in crime' the 'peas to my carrots' my new fellow community manager Kerri! Welcome aboard Kerri!

Momstown Kitchener-Waterloo

Let the count-down begin!!! Only a few short weeks Momstown will launch their new chapter in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. What better than a group just for moms wanting to get out there, have fun, meet new people and get a little support in their child rearing years?

My name is Christa and I am super excited about being a part of launching such a wonderful program in our area. I really think that Momstown is something that all of us moms with children 0-5 need and will always need.

So get ready to meet some new people and have a lot of fun while we're at it! The organizing of events has already begun and our brainstorming hats are on. We have baby in bucket coffee dates planned, SOS (I need to get out of the house) lunches, moms pub nights, nature walks, seasonal parties and much more!! Think of anything you would like to see us plan, just let us know and we will work it in; this group is all about you...the mom, and what our community needs and wants.
