Really, I thought I had a baby because I wanted her to thrive and grow and mature and.... Wait a minute, did I say grow up? No no no. I couldn't have. I couldn't have because I am not ready for that! At just shy of 21 months, she is flourishing and growing nicely into her testy terrible 2's. With that comes some major milestones that are we are about to face. In the next 2 months we will be potty training, starting part-time day care and transitioning out of her crib. (pouty face). And I am not ready for any of it!
I don't mind changing the diapers, (even poopy ones), I don't mind that she still sleeps in her crib either (when she sleeps). I am not anxiously picking out her new bedroom furniture or planning her new bedroom decor. Nor am I excited about swtiching from diapers to pull-ups. I like the scent of the fresh diapers and love how cute she looks in them. And now she is ready to grow out of all of it? It's all happening so fast and I want to make it stop.
And starting the transition of part-time day care. Oh, I am SOOO not ready for that! I am trusting that this move is a good business decision for me and that everything will be just fine as everyone assures me. "This will be good for both of you", "She will be getting socialized" and "She will love daycare" are just some of the votes of encouragement I have been hearing lately but I am still not convinced. Getting her socialized? She is a momstown baby, she is more than socialized! Called me paranoid and crazy, but I am scared to death of leaving my baby in someone else's care. Thank goodness day centres cater to anxious moms like me and allow for transition time leading up to the dreaded starting date.
It all makes me wonder, how will I ever get through all the milestones yet to come? I AM SO NOT READY FOR THIS!
