Building Bird Feeders with momstown Kitchener-Waterloo

On Friday, to celebrate our Construction theme for June, our momstown KW mama's and kiddos trekked over to Breithaupt Park in Kitchener to learn how to build bird feeders out of an empty water bottle, a wooden dowel, some fishing line, and of course birdseed! The bonus to this location was that the kids could run wild and play once the bird feeders were built. Breithaupt park has a great little playground, good for littler and bigger kids. It also has a wonderful splashpad for warm days.
Can't splash with your shoes on!
Once everyone actually found the location (who knew there are multiple areas to Breithaupt Park?)  We all had a blast! The splash pad turned on right before we began birdhouse building (which meant a lot of the kiddos took off!).

Thankfully, with some picture assisted directions and moms working together, everybody left with a ready-to-hang bird feeder. They're pretty, functional, and best of all they reuse plastic bottles making these bird feeders eco-friendly!

Aren’t they cute?! I am sure all of the birdies will LOVE eating from them! And the kids will LOVE checking out all the pretty birds looking for a snack.  Our momstown moms can't wait for the activity! But, in the meantime, they can check out the momstown Arts & Crafts Blog for more Construction theme ideas.

It's True, We DO a Lot!

Yes, its true, momstown Kitchener-Waterloo does offer a lot of things to do!  It's not a gimmick, sales pitch or lure. Its a fact that there is a mimimum of 7 events per week, and 30+ events in any given month.  Yep, no joke!

Wondering how the calendar could be so full?  Well, momstown Kitchener-Waterloo offers playgroups, book clubs, track walking, mall strolling, parkdates, craft events/days, field trips, meet & greets,  and yes, some playdates. And that's only naming a few.

On top of all that, we have a variety of events that cater to just mom, appropriately called Mom's Nights Out.  Without our kiddies in tow, we are having supper together, Mommy Book Club, Mommy Networking Club, educational seminars and how-to classes.

Dad is important too, even at momstown, and here in Kitchener-Waterloo, we have family craft days and popular Holiday parties that even the most masculine dads like to attend.

Our ideas are endless for quality, fun and valuable events that are supported by an educational cirriculum created by momstown.ca for all momstown chapters across Canada.  And starting in May, Moms will have their very own Mom Cirriculum too!
For even more crafty ideas, check out the momstown.ca Arts & Crafts blog!

- Healthy Digestion for Infants, Children & the Whole Family (just to name a few)

Fresh · Local · Friendly

Everything from cooking lessons, to celebrity chefs and private rentals - It's a brand new Kitchener Market experience. http://www.kitchenermarket.ca/

With an emphasis on cooking and healthy eating, and the importance of purchasing and eating local food will support local food growers in the community and in the region, the Kitchener Market offers fun and educational opportunities for children and adults alike.

Tania Heinemann, a registered holistic nutritionist and nutritional consultant practitioner, offers classes on healthy food for toddlers and babies, and food allergies.

"Many people may only get limited information from their health care provider about food introduction for their baby and it may not be accurate or up to date," says Heinemann. "In the workshop on cooking for babies, we focus on baby's digestive system and immune system and talk about what makes sense for your child."

The Market Place is also available for rent!

For more information about programming at the Market place, or about the market itself, please check the website at www.kitchenermarket.ca

Balloons, BBQ and Big Celebrations

On Saturday June 12, we celebrated new community ownership in front of the Little Tot Spot in Tannery District downtown. And boy did we celebrate!! Even with the inclement weather, we had a fabulous turnout. I was so busy talking and serving cake that I couldn't even take pictures! Thankfully, Leanne from our Guelph chapter and her family were prepared with their camera.

Take a look at this view inside the Little Tot Spot:

For everyone that turned out we had, entertainers, tattoos, sidewalk activities, seed planting, vendors, goody bags and so much more!

If you missed out, join us next year when we celebrate our anniversary!
