Today, momstown KW moms and kids donned their rain boots, umbrella's and time machines and took a trip back in time to 1914 and learned all about how chores were done "back in the day".
First stop was the Seibert House where the children got to hear stories from Old Mother Goose and play a few games! With no Facebook, television or IPad to keep the kids occupied, it was great to see how the children in 1914 kept busy and played! The momstown KW kids loved playing these games by candlelight!
Next, we travelled down the lane to the Sararas-Bricker Farm, where the children all learned how every day life was in the mornings. After waking from their "slumber" and washing up, it was time to head to the farm and feed the animals. The animals got to eat their breakfast first!
First, it was time to feed the chickens...or chase them if you were only 2 years old...and look for eggs!
Look what we found!!! 2 eggs!!!
Then, since it was harvest time, it was time to collect the apples and put them into the bucket to bring back to the house. This also ensured that the sheep didn't eat them when they were in the pasture!
After giving the billy goats water and fresh hay, we headed up to the barn to make our very own scarecrow!
After all that hard work is was time for lunch and a little more playtime at the Waterloo Region Museum's newest exhibit Exploring Trees: Inside and Out!
