The Nesting Instinct Offers You Full-Support Doula Care

 

The Nesting Instinct was developed as a Doula Group in Kitchener-Waterloo, but is rapidly expanding to encompass so many other areas of support, nurturing, and education available to new and expectant parents in the Tri-Cities.

Founded by Amanda Schnarr & Christine Doan, the NestingInstinct has taken off and women around the city are experiencing, first hand, the benefit of having professionals experienced in fertility, birth and parenting as part of their personal team.

 

DOULA SERVICES

As labour doulas, Christine and Amanda offer support and education throughout your pregnancy, as well as physical and emotional support during the birth of your baby. After your baby is born, your doula assists in establishing a positive breastfeeding relationship with your baby, while also helping you and your partner fit into your new rolls as parents (whether it’s your first, or your fourth baby!).  These doulas know that each baby is different and unique, and can often come with challenges that leave us feeling overwhelmed and helpless. With the support of Amanda & Christine, you will feel educated, empowered and ready to embrace every wonderful moment of parenthood!

In addition to labour doula services, The Nesting Instinct also offers Postpartum Doula Care. Years ago, this role was often filled by mothers, grandmothers, and other women of the community. They cooked for you, cleaned your house, and ordered you to stay in bed nursing and bonding with your baby. New moms were worshiped and waited on, and didn’t have to live up to society’s expectations that women should be able to juggle the demanding roles of mother, housewife, and career woman. Today though, it is often impossible to enlist helpers to care for you in the weeks after your baby is born. Your husband will likely only have a day or two off work, your own mother is probably still working a full-time job, and your sisters and friends are trying to balance their own hectic schedules. 
Although times have changed, the old saying has not: “It takes a village to raise a child”, and we are here to be your village.

Postpartum doulas devote their career to helping new moms transition flawlessly to life with a new little one. Your doula’s role is as diverse as your needs. She can support you in the afternoon, taking care of laundry, dishes, and meal preparation. She can also stay with you throughout the night, and assist with newborn care and night time feedings so that you and your partner can get some much needed rest. A postpartum doula has even been known to travel with you, so that you have the assurance your family is cared for while you enjoy every moment of your well deserved vacation!

CHILDBIRTH AND PARENTING EDUCATION

The Nesting Instinct is constantly offering a wide range of education and training workshops. There are so many different kinds of birth preparation classes available to women today, and The Nesting Instinct aims to offer as many styles as possible. Amanda & Christine recognize that every woman’s needs and birth preferences are different, and that not one class will suit everyone. If there is a specific class you are looking for, you can submit a request, and The nesting Instinct will do everything they can to make it happen!

Educating yourself doesn’t stop at birth. Maybe you want to learn more about breastfeeding, babywearing or cloth diapering. Maybe your child’s sleep habits, or potty training difficulties have you feeling frustrated and helpless. The Nesting Instinct offers ongoing workshops, and support groups to help you find your way through every step of parenthood. We’re here to set you and your children on the right path in life.

DOULA TRAINING

The Nesting Instinct has just launched their brand new doula training and mentor program! If you are fascinated with the miracle of childbirth, and would like to fulfill your life by empowering women to make positive birth choices, then this program is for you!
You won’t find this unique mentor program being offered anywhere else! Students are supported through their entire journey, and are never left feeling helpless and lost.  Your experienced mentor will give you the tools and resources you need to establish a successful business.
