This week momstown KW moms learned all about childhood food allergies and sensitivities. Even though food allergies and intolerance are becoming more and more common, our knowledge behind how and why allergies occur is also increasing helping moms learn how to avoid them and how nutrition and supplement protocols can help with symptoms.
A true allergy is an abnormal immune reaction to a generally harmless substance and a true allergy will only affect about 1-2% of the population! Symptoms could be as severe as swelling, rash, hives, breathing difficulties, upset belly or even anaphylactic shock within 1 hour of ingestion or exposure to the food or as minimal as irritability, diaper rash and eczema. The top nine foods to cause a reaction include; peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, eggs, fish, soy, wheat and sulphites.
