It was a warm and sunny day to be at the park and make some fruit pizzas for Junior Chef.

They are super easy to make too:

Yummy French Toast Meal at Junior Chef and momstowm KW

Junior Chef was so fun this month!

We made French Toast!

The kids had a great time getting in on the ooey gooey fun of breaking the eggs:

 And dipping the bread:

And of course, eating it!

We made French toast as a part of our monthly theme of birds.

Here is the logic:

*A chicken is a bird

*Chickens lay eggs

*Eggs can make French Toast

Pretty imaginative, I'd say!

Next week momstown Movers will be learning a colour activity in Make and Take.

Hope to see you there!

Et Tu Ceaser Salad Kits on the Menu for Junior Chef at momstown KW

Did you know that Et Tu Caesar Salad Kits are a panty item? Amazing, I'd say, since momstown KW was able too make a delicious and nutritious meal in no time at all.

We took a super tasty Caesar Salad kit and added lettuce. That's it!  We loved the added flavor of the bacon, that comes in the kit as well.

The kids had a great time making this easy and delicious meal.   Everyone wanted to help and have their turn to mix and turn the salad.

ET TU Salad Kits help you be prepared to create a meal that’s easy, quick and delicious.    These salad kits are so easy and quick, you can prepare your family meal with your toddler / pre-schooler helping out, and it will be fun and easy!

We added the salad and a piece of chicken to a wrap and, VOILA, a successful lunch!

Not only did moms and tots have a great time making, and eating, this special Junior Chef lunch, but ET TU was very generous to give extra boxes that some of the families took home!

Moms don’t often think of salad as a “pantry item”.  Et Tu salad kits are an item you can “stock up” on.  You only need a fresh head of lettuce or bag of prepared lettuce to have a great tasting healthy salad.  You don’t need to worry about all the ingredients – they are included in the kit.

Thanks ET TU for the great lunch. Don't forget to check them out for this and other fabulous panty items : http://www.caesarfordinner.com/homepage.html.

PLUS, take 10 seconds and enter their contest to WIN a completely surprise-proof pantry – complete with a selection of delicious ET TU Salad Kits and a grocery gift card valued at $250!  http://bepreparedtobesurprised.ca/

Authentic Chinese Dumplings were on the menu at Jr. Chef this month.
One of our moms brought in her mothers, mothers recipe straight from China.

We added pork and Chinese leeks along with soya sauce, rice vinegar and other spices to the mixture before rolling the dumplings in the rice skins

Then the dumplings boil for 6 mins and, presto!, Chinese Dumplings to enjoy!

A big Thank You to our momstown KW mom, Clare, for teaching us this fantastic, tasty recipe!

Junior Chefs Make Rocketship Fruit Sticks at momstown KW

Today at Jr. Chef our toddler and preschoolers made Rocketship Fruit Sticks.

We had a variety of washed and sliced fresh fruit all ready to go. We pushed the fruit onto skewer sticks and made some blast off sounds as we munched on our healthy snack.

Jr Chef this month fell just before St Patricks day so we also made Shamrock Shakes. We used green peppermint stick ice cream and milk in the blender for a sweet green treat.

It was so much fun to get all dressed in green and create our snacks today!

Next month we are going to make Chinese Dumplings!

Silly Spaghetti Slurping at Junior Chef

Today at Junior Chef we made Silly Spaghetti !

The kids sliced hot dogs and pushed dry spaghetti noodles through the pieces. Then after boiling it in water until the pasta was tender we all topped the dish with tomato sauce and cheese.

The result was silly slurping fun!

Then, we made Honey Baked Carrots for dessert.

After cutting clean carrots into rounds, we dipped them into melted butter and honey. We baked them for 10 mins. at 400 degrees and...TA DA... a sweet, silly, healthy dessert.

All our little Junior Chefs loved helping create both recipes and projects.  They of course nibbled all the way through our preparation too :)

Kitchener-Waterloo Moms & Tots Bake with Nutella at momstown's Junior Chef

Kitchener-Waterloo moms and tots had the pleasure of getting together in the Kitchener Marketplace this week for our Nutella sponsored Junior Chef program.  With jars of Nutella, all our baking ingredients and our recipe for Nutella Breakfast Bars, momstown Kitchener-Waterloo was all aproned and ready to bake!

The kids were anxious to dig in and get mixing all the ingredients together so we every tot was in charge of one ingredient.  They could hardly wait for their turn to come!  With mom helping measure with them, they carefully portioned their part and then added it to the mix.  We chose to make Nutella Breakfast Bars since we could all share them and even take some home for a treat for dad too.

We divided into 2 groups, one preparing the wet ingredients, and the other preparing the dry ingredients.  Then we came together to combine both mixes.  The boys weren't shy about jumping into help with the measuring and stirring.  We needed their muscles to ensure the batter was blended well.
Mixing, mixing, mixing.  I love how well the boys worked together to make sure no ingredient was left unstirred, or stuck to the side of the bowl.  They were great multi-taskers, chewing on a candy-cane while stirring with the other hand!  And the girls sat back and watched the boys take the lead with their breakfast squares.

While our breakfast bars were baking in the over, we had fun with strawberries, whip cream and chocolate chips, creating cute like Strawberry Santa's!   So easy to make, so cute to look at and so yummy to eat :)

Before we knew it, our bars were done and we were ready for the best part!  The kids anxiously dipped their spoons in the Nutella jar and spread it on top of their invidual squares of their baked bars.  Because the bars were still warm, the Nutella softened easily and almost melted over their baked creations.  It was one spread for the bar and one scoop into their mouth with Nutella.  Each family was lucky enough to go home with their own jar of Nutella to enjoy, plus recipe cards to re-create this recipe  and a few others

I have to say that this recipe for the Nutella Breakfast Bars contains a very small amount of sugar, and makes a great healthy and nutritious snack.  We definitely created some new Nutella fans at this Junior Chef!
