Shadow Play at momstown KW Little Scientist Program

1 part : tent
1 part: flashlight
1 part: imagination=
___________________________

A great day for shadow play!

With our monthly theme of birds we used our hands to try bird shadows.

We made dogs and people and everything in between.

And we talked about the science behind the making of a shadow too!

Then it was play time.

And even the littlest participants had a great time.

You can join in the fun to by checking out the calendar that momstown KW has to offer.

See you next week for Junior Chef.

Fox and Squirrel Join the Fun at Laugh and Learn: Tales for Tots in KW

Scholastic Canada donated a cute book, Fox and Squirrel to our Laugh and Learn: Tales for Tots program in September.

The book reads of a fox and squirrel who are great friends despite their differences.

After reading Fox and Squirrel, we made masks that represented the main characters in the book.

It takes half a paper plate painted either brown or orange to make the mask.
Then, cut out eye holes before using construction paper to make ears for either the fox or squirrel.
Finally, add teeth for the squirrel or whiskers for the fox and then your mask is ready for a straw fastened to the back.

The result is a super cute mask!

At the end of the day, we had play and social time and one lucky boy got to take the book home!

Join us next week at Laugh and Learn for Alphabet Play.

Yummy French Toast Meal at Junior Chef and momstowm KW

Junior Chef was so fun this month!

We made French Toast!

The kids had a great time getting in on the ooey gooey fun of breaking the eggs:

 And dipping the bread:

And of course, eating it!

We made French toast as a part of our monthly theme of birds.

Here is the logic:

*A chicken is a bird

*Chickens lay eggs

*Eggs can make French Toast

Pretty imaginative, I'd say!

Next week momstown Movers will be learning a colour activity in Make and Take.

Hope to see you there!

momstown KW Moms and Tots "Let it Shine" at Tales for Tots.

Once a month at momstown KW ,our momstown Movers program is sponsored by Scholastic Canada.

This month we were given the book " Let It Shine"

A sweet book about summer fun and the coming of autumn.

The book fit well with the monthly creative theme of "deserts".

And so did our craft that followed:

We made sand castles on paper!

After drawing the outline of our castles, we used glue to add fun foam and sparkles

The results was some awesome, blinged-out, art!

We also had social and play time:

Right before this lucky winner took home the book we read:

Thanks again Scholastic Canada!

Wet, Wet, Wet and Mothers Day with momstown KW at Art and Play Program

Art and Play at momstown KW is a playgroup structured for ALL AGES!
There are games and activities structured for the busy toddlers and pre-schoolers, while still keeping the babies busy too! This is the perfect playgroup for moms with children at any age and moms with children at different stages too! The activities and games will be based around the monthly educational curriculum theme and is much for the kids Our theme this month was Wet, wet, wet!

And since it was so close to Mothers Day, we combined the 2 topics for a fun morning at the Ontario Early Years Center.

We read 2 books about Moms. One book was how a little princess wants her mom all the time, then she finds she can have fun without Mom.

The second book showed us how kids and Moms like the same things!

The it was time for the Wet, wet, wet part!
We used  paint!

 Lots of paint!

And made cards for Mothers day!

For the next 3 months we will be taking Art and Play with Picasso's in the Park, outside!

Come and join the fun in the sun next month when we use shapes and celebrate Canada Day too!

Fun With Literacy and the Ontario Early Years Center at momstown Movers

Kim, from our local Ontario Early Years Center joined us today at momstown Movers.

momstown Movers is a play and learn group designed for our child members aged 15 months and up.

Part of the cirriculum is having awsome guest speakers like Kim come and visit us.

Kim read us a couple of fun books that focused on rhyming. We  also sang songs where there were fun puppets invovled and even egg shakers too play with. Kim taught the moms about how certian word like "up", "down" and "behind" are good early math words and she even brought a take home kit with a brand new book and information for moms about literacy milestones and services available in the area that can assist in helping our young ones reach those goals.

After all the singing and reading fun, Kim satyed behind to speak with moms about any questions they had while others played and socialized.

What a fantastic day of play and games! Who knew learning could be so fun?

Music for Young Children Sings and Dance with momstown KW Movers

We had a special guest speaker today at momstown movers: Jan Brown from Music for Young Children came and shared her love of song and dance with our group.

We song a welcome song to start our circle time and the fun just got better from there.

Not only did we sing and dance but, we got to use neat instruments and props to enhance the musical experience.

Both moms and kids had a fantastic time with Jan and the fun she brought to momstown Movers!

Join us for our next guest speaker: Kim from the Ontario Early Years Center when she teaches us about early literacy.
